24 June 2008

Top Chef adopts Dame Alice Harpur SchoolGrant Hawthorne, head chef at The Plough, Wavendon, has recently adopted Dame Alice Harpur School as part of the 'Chefs Adopt a School' programme being run by the Academy of Culinary Arts. Chefs who are involved give their time voluntarily because they want to pass on the passion that first brought them to the profession they love. The main aims of 'Chefs Adopt a School' are to advance the education of young people in food, nutrition, hygiene, health and related subjects and to develop young people's knowledge, understanding and appreciation of food. The Year 9 girls spent a morning with Grant, creating dishes from recipes currently used in his restaurant.
