History

In Year 3 girls study Britain since 1948, the history of Dame Alice - the school and its buildings - and the Romans in Britain. In Year 4 girls study invaders and settlers in Britain, including the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Bedford Castle and the Ancient Egyptians. In Year 5 girls explore the lives of the ancient Greeks, the Tudors and the Aztecs. In Year 6 girls study the Second World War and Victorian Britain.

The study of all these topics involves working as a class and in small groups. Girls carry out their own individual projects and take part in visits. In Year 6 a Victorian School Day is held when the girls dress up as Victorian children and experience for themselves what it was like to be a school child in the 19th Century.
