Mathematics

We use the New Heinemann Mathematics Scheme as the basis for all topics.

Girls from Years 3 to 6 are taught in Mathematics groups according to their ability.

In addition to the topic work covered in class, there will be regular mental arithmetic tests, multiplication tables tests and problem-solving activities.

Homework will be given once a week. This will reflect topics that are being covered in class, or revision of past work. In Years 3 and 4 the learning of multiplication tables is considered of paramount importance. We would hope that all girls will have a thorough knowledge of the multiplication tables 1-12 before entering Year 5. We actively encourage parents to help their daughter to learn these.

Continuous assessment will take place during the year using check up tests.
