Club Badminton

Our Senior girls had their traditional match with Bedford School, enjoying the friendly competition and social aspects of the sport. Apart from this, we had real difficulty finding any opposition for our older girls. If anyone out there knows of any Senior girls playing badminton, willing to have a match, please let us know. We had a very lively badminton club on Monday nights with an overflowing hall and lots of very keen players from Years 7 to 10. The Year 6s really improved during their lunchtime sessions. Sixteen girls, including some Sixth Formers, took advantage of an 'In Flight' coaching course on a Saturday in the holidays and received a very smart racket to practise with. Our U14 team won the local round of the 'Top Schools' team tournament beating Stratton and Wycombe on the way. We then went to the National finals held at Luton. This was an amazing opportunity to watch some really top-level play from both girls and boys of our girls' own ages. We were very pleased to actually win two matches, and so finished 10th in the country, a proud achievement for Georgina Crossman, Charlotte Oaten, Sophie Wright and Freya Twigden.

Lunchtime Badminton

2005/6 saw a great upsurge of recreational badminton being played at lunchtime in the sports hall. As long as the hall is not being used by any member of staff, you may come and play, provided that you behave sensibly and safely. Have fun, keep fit, come and join us!
