Bedfordshire Cross Country Championships
February 26th 2009.

Six girls qualified to race at the Bedfordshire Cross Country Championships on Thursday 26th February. The weather was a little chilly at Ampthill Park; however the girls were well prepared and ready for racing. The first runners were the Year 6 & 7 girls including Nicola Pasquire and Amy Hall. Both were up against hard opposition with runners from Bedford and County and Luton who train at least three times a week. Both girls ran well,  Nicola finished 6th and Amy finished 10th. Well done both girls. Next up was the Year 9 race. Three girls qualified in the category - Nula Maher, Machaela Barden and Revee Walcott-Nolan. Again the girls were up against hard competition. At first, Nula and Machaela struggled to keep pace but finished the race with determination. Revee who trains with Luton Athletic Club settled quickly in to her stride and was strong throughout the race. Revee finished 3rd, qualifying for the next round which will take place in Loughbough on the 21st March, good luck Revee. Tumpreet Singhota was our only senior girl. Tumpreet, who is in Year 10 ran against girls from Year 11, 12 and 13. She ran well with a slight leg injury to finish 33rd. Well done to all the girls that took part.

We are now coming to the end of the Cross Country season and would like to encourage any girls that would like to participate on the track 800, 1500 meters or even longer to come and see Mr Jackson on the Sports Field, on a Wednesday during first lunch (from 12.10pm).
