Equestrian Club

The Equestrian Club continues to gather pace and is now at a gentle canter, as more competitions were entered in 2005/6. Charlotte Burgess captained the team with great enthusiasm and was ably supported by Louise Papworth.

At Gawcott in the National Schools' Cross Country competition, Charlotte displayed nerve, stamina and physical and mental strength as she guided her horse, Wattie, around the demanding course, going clear plus all bonus fences.

Louise, together with Fenella Early, Lauren Hunter and Evie Cochrane, took part in the Kimbolton School Show Jumping competition, riding Purdy, Jester, Poppy and Scooter over 2', 2'6" and 3' jumps.

After jump-offs against the clock, Louise gained a third place in the Open Class and Evie a third in the Intermediate Class. Charlotte and Louise then joined up with Lucy Roper and Abigail Mason in a riding match with Kimbolton School. All the girls rode excellent rounds in the show jumping and finished second after the dressage test. Charlotte continued to display her fantastic horsemanship at the Open Cross Country competition in Carlton, winning a first place in the Inter-Schools Challenge.

I would like to thank all the girls for their enthusiasm, commitment and courage and we look forward to breaking into a gallop in the 2006/7 season by entering more competitions and by 'reining' in more girls!

Also have a look at the Polo section if you're interested in that.
