Community Sports Leader Award
The Community Sports Leader Award ran again in 2005/6 as part of the Year 12 Broader Curriculum. Nine pupils took up the opportunity and worked with the younger members of the community. The girls worked with pupils from Dame Alice Junior School and pupils from Shackleton Lower School.
The experience was greatly enjoyed by all. The pupils developed their leadership skills through a variety of activities based on sport. As part of the course the girls gained the 'Lifesaver' First Aid qualification. We had an enjoyable Sunday in January with a trainer from St John's Ambulance who taught the girls the skills required for preserving life.
There was in fact so much interest in First Aid at Dame Alice, a second day was organised for 12 other girls during the Easter holidays. They all passed pending their ten-hour voluntary module.
