Polo

As the winter draws in, we are inviting all complete novices and experienced riders to an opportunity to join in Winter Polo lessons. The idea is to learn in the safety of our indoor Arena over the Winter before graduating outdoors in the Spring.

The Coach

We are pleased to have been able to secure the services of Georgiana Crofton, HPA Qualified Polo Coach. Georgiana grew up living & breathing Polo - she gave up a life in the City of London and took up polo full time in 2000. She captained the Ireland women's team to a bronze medal in 2003. Georgiana specialises in Riding for Polo and Platform techniques and well as specialising in techniques for women players & youngsters who have less strength then men but are often better riders and/or team players. Georgiana also specialises in teaching players that have never ridden before to play polo.

Georgiana has trained two boys that have been selected to play for Young England. One of them went from novice to a one goal handicap in his first 3 years of playing.

The Ponies

Georgiana will provide all the ponies for the school ensuring that only best and safest ponies are used. These are a highly acclaimed string of ponies which are now considered to be some of the best in the country, hiring regularly from Country House Polo to the prestigious Guards Polo Club. Georgiana has twice mounted Prince Harry's team and hires to schools such as Wellington, St Mary's Calne, Eton & Cheltenham.

The Venues

Weekday lessons will be at around 5.30pm at our Arena at Wing (Nr Leighton Buzzard) or for Holiday lessons at the newly refurbished Arena at West Wycombe Park Polo Club, near High Wycombe.

The Cost

Lessons will be on a weekday evening (around 5.30pm) and during the holidays and will be at a fixed price of £40 per hour's lesson. This includes all tuition from Georgiana, hire of the pony, stick hire and arena fees for one hour. What is not included is transport to and from the arena, riding equipment (hat/boots etc) and food.

The price is based on a minimum of 4 students per session.

Previous Experience

We can accommodate any girl from the Senior School from Year 7 to Sixth Form. The ponies are very well trained and very forgiving. Whilst girls who are confident riders will progress very quickly, we can accommodate girls with no riding experience whatsoever.
