Rounders
In 2006 our rounders team played exceptionally well. We became the District champions, beating Lincroft in the semis 13 1/2-9 1/2, and going on to beat Goldington in the final 10-3 1/2. We were also crowned League champions, beating Alameda in the semis and Bedford High in the final. The match against Alameda was very close but we only had one turn to bat. In the end, we beat them 8 1/2-7. They scored 7 in two innings and we scored 8 1/2 in one.
In 2006, playing rounders was a great joy since the team got on extremely well, everyone being very encouraging to each other.
These are some comments from the team:
Melissa Manning - 'I really like rounders because you feel great when you win and learn from your defeats. Catching people out is good as well. Also we're really proud to be District and League champions.'
Freya Twigden - 'I fell over... yet I still scored the rounder. When you catch the ball or stump someone out you feel great.'
Ellie Gill - 'I think rounders is a great sport because it helps you get along with others. I also like getting people out because my team is proud of me and says well done.'
Claudia Beasley - 'I am extremely proud of how we have played this year. It has also been a pleasure to play with this team because we all get on so well and I am leaving at the end of this year and couldn't have wished for a better ending to a great time at Dame Alice.'
