Exams Information

The Examinations Department

Examinations Officer: Mrs R Houghton

Assistant Examinations Officers: Ms A Cavener, Mrs J Armitage

As some of you may already be thinking ahead to next year's holiday plans, we would like to advise you of the dates when results of external examinations will be available to collect from school in August 2010. Although results can easily be sent out from school, the majority of our pupils want to pick their results up as soon as possible. Help and advice regarding future plans will be available in school on these days for those girls collecting their results.

We strongly recommend that those girls receiving A2 level results pick them up from school personally so that their future plans can be finalised smoothly. It is therefore advisable to make your holiday plans with this in mind. The dates are:

- AS/A2 results Thursday 19th August 2010

- GCSE Results Tuesday 24th August 2010

A set of notes has been put together so that parents of examination candidates can play their part in supporting their daughters through the periods of examinations and results. If you have queries that are not covered in the notes below, please contact a member of the Examinations Department, details below, for further advice.

Coursework for External Examinations

Girls in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 have received a copy of the JCQ Notice to Candidates: Coursework Assessments (now known as Controlled Assessment for Year 10) which contains the rules and regulations relevant to coursework and must be read.

Parents may be interested to look at a copy of the booklet issued by QCA 'Coursework a guide for parents'. It provides information on how you can support your daughters when they are completing their coursework, for example, in helping with working to deadlines and organisation. It also mentions plagiarism and explains how students and their teachers must ensure that the work is their own.

The leaflet itself can be downloaded from the QCA website.
